Chicagoan here, DeKalb you pronounce the L. Regionally specific in the same way Des Moines is a silent S but they pronounce the S in Des Plaines, a Chicago suburb.
I lived in the NW Suburbs of Chicago, came here to say the same about DeKalb. How Chicagoland people pronounce "Roosevelt Road" is something else entirely.
22:04 the EMU section was great, I’ve been fascinated with them since NCAA 11. Creighton has taken a sledgehammer to the edifice of the MAC. His devoted gray clad rabble emerge from behind armed only with broken concrete and bent rebar to curb stomp their way to a 4-4 conference record.
I knew Godfrey was a man of sophisticated tastes, but a Jon Breaks Bad News shout out confirms it. Also, Kalamazoo native and while I'm not a Bronco grad, I still pay attention and 12-0 ongoing was definitely not the assumption in the wake of Fleck's departure. There was hope it could turn into something a cut above where Western normally lives, but I think Fleck wasn't there long enough to establish a runway that helped keep them there in the wake of someone without what I assume to be his insane personal charisma.
Just want to say what a joy it is to check the comments section and see another victory for myself in the SZD Pronunciation Crusades.

Came here to say this, as an NIU alum. Also, it's more of a "Dee" than a "Duh"
