On the point about Memphis fans getting mad when you call them Memphis State. When I lived in Memphis, the majority of the many many Ole Miss grads in the city seemed to always add the state. I think it was, on purpose or not, a subtle little-brothering of Memphis fans. It feels like a less direct version of calling South Carolina USCjr
I claim Arkansas State for the Delta. Jonesboro is located on Crowley’s Ridge but the geographical region and culture is firmly Delta, from the Missouri Bootheel all the way down the eastern quarter of Arkansas, plus NE Louisiana.
